STOURBRIDGE TOWN CENTRE - PUBLIC CONSULTATION
Feedback on Stourbridge Town Centre – Public Consultation
A public consultation on the future of Stourbridge Town Centre took place on 17 January – 14 February 2024. We received over 800 responses, and have identified the following key headlines:

-
Strong agreement with the proposed changes at the gateways and public spaces in the town centre set out in the consultation.
-
Significant support for making the town more pedestrian and cycle friendly and introducing traffic calming measures.
-
42% travelled to the town by foot, 37% by car
-
Over 55% support the provision of additional disabled parking bays around the town centre (not included in the poster)
-
Greening the town centre and improving the look and feel are also top priorities from the feedback
-
Twice as many people prefer to cross the ring-road using surface crossings to subways
-
Improving the retail offer and range of events and activities identified as most likely to encourage people to visit the town centre more often. Development of a Business Improvement District is currently underway. If successful, a Business Improvement District in the Town Centre will support local businesses, market the town and give businesses a joint voice, with the opportunity to directly influence positive improvements for the town to attract more visitors. www.ryemarketshoppingcentre.co.uk/stourbridgeBID
